It's a sunny Saturday morning, thanks God for the fine weather. My friends and I went on a trip and obviously, I planned it and made the coordination.
Mount Romelo is located at the south, in the mountain ranges of Sierra Madre. Our destination are the Buruwisan falls, Lanzones falls and Batya-batya falls. We planned to meet at around 7am and as expected, all of us were late.. :) From Nagcarlan, we took a jeepney going to Sta. Cruz (Magdalena way) and drop to Areza (not sure if it's already part of Pagsanjan or Sta. Cruz). Then a jeepney going to Siniloan. From Siniloan, we took a trike going to Famy (drop point - Brgy. Macatad).
Before heading to Brgy. Macatad, we first visited the Siniloan church, pray for a few minutes
At the drop point, a man approached us and asked if we're going on a trek. He's name is Kuya Botong, an approachable man, we got his service to be our guide for P300. But we all agreed to give an additional payment since he's really helpful, accommodating with lots of patience especially to me during the trek.
Kuya Botong
at the registration
registration fee is P50
We asked kuya Botong, how long will it take to reach the Buruwisan falls and told us for about an hour. But our trek took for almost 3 hours. We had a hard time during the trek. Abby fainted (thank you to the group of campers who gave fox's candy), Suzette had cramps and I almost cry, feels like losing my breath. There are 12 station to pass before reaching the camp site. Each station has a cross sign and area where campers can rest for few minutes.
1st station.. 11 more to go!
Some of the stations we've passed, rest for few minutes.
Buko loco for P15. Thank you Kim for the treat.
The muddy trail adds excitement. Campers can also rent horse of locals going to the campsite for P300.
First stop, Buruwisan falls and Lanzones falls (they are near to each other)
To reach this falls, we need to go down in a slippery trail, on a huge tree full of big roots. The roots serve as the staircase. This is really a big challenge for me since I'm afraid of heights. Kuya Botong asked our group: "Kaya nyo ba bumaba ng patalikod?"
majestic picture of Buruwisan falls and ideal for photography
Buruwisan falls is 40ft high and more or less 60ft deep
10-12ft high
Batya-batya falls is on the other side. It took us almost an hour to reach it. We can say that this is the most challenging of all the three falls. We need to swim into shoulder deep water. Since I'm not a swimmer, I really had a hard time. Big thanks to Kuya Botong who have a lot of patience.
This is all worth it.
Good company of friends, another memories shared.
